Children's Privacy and COPPA Compliance
(아동 개인정보 보호 및 COPPA 준수)
SOAR KIDZ, Inc. ("SOAR," "we," "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of children who use our educational services. Because our platform provides English language arts instruction to students in grades K-12, many of our users are children under the age of 13. This section describes our practices regarding children's personal information in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") and the updated FTC COPPA Rule effective June 2025.
1. Account Creation and Parental Role (계정 생성 및 보호자 역할)
Children cannot create accounts on SOAR. Only a parent or legal guardian ("Parent") may create an account and register a child for our services. During the onboarding process, we require the Parent to confirm they are the parent or legal guardian of the child(ren) being enrolled, agree to the Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy on behalf of their child(ren), and provide the child's information as described below. No child may use SOAR's educational services until a Parent has completed account registration.
2. Verifiable Parental Consent (보호자 동의 확인)
SOAR obtains verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from children under 13 through the following mechanism:

Credit Card Verification: Before a child can participate in any SOAR class, the Parent must complete a paid enrollment transaction through our payment processor, Stripe. The completion of a monetary transaction using a valid credit or debit card serves as verifiable parental consent under COPPA, as it provides a reasonable method of ensuring that the person providing consent is the child's parent or guardian. This method is recognized by the FTC as an acceptable form of VPC.

Terms Acknowledgment: During onboarding, Parents must affirmatively check a consent box confirming their parental/guardian status and agreeing to the collection and use of their child's information as described in this policy.

If we discover that we have collected personal information from a child without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information promptly.
3. Information We Collect About Children (수집하는 아동 정보)
We collect the minimum information necessary to provide our educational services:

Identity: First name, last name, Korean name (optional), date of birth, gender — to identify the student and assign age-appropriate content
Education Profile: Grade level, school name (optional), state/region (optional) — to place the student in an appropriate class level
Educational Records: Class enrollment, attendance, homework submissions, teacher evaluations, reading assessments, book reviews — to deliver and track educational progress
Class Participation: Video and audio during live Zoom classes, chat messages during class — to conduct live instruction
Student Email (optional): Email address provided by Parent — to enable student login to view homework
Profile: Profile avatar/image (optional), self-introduction (optional) — to personalize the student's experience
Technical Data: IP address and device information — to maintain security and platform functionality

We do not collect: social media profiles or friend lists, precise geolocation data, biometric identifiers, or contact information for other children.
4. How We Use Children's Information (아동 정보 이용 방법)
We use children's personal information solely for educational purposes: providing live English language arts instruction via Zoom, assigning, collecting, and grading homework, tracking academic progress and generating evaluations, communicating educational updates to the Parent, ensuring platform security and preventing fraud, and complying with legal obligations.

We do not use children's personal information for: behavioral or targeted advertising, creating marketing profiles, selling or renting to any third party, or any purpose unrelated to providing educational services.
5. Third-Party Services That Receive Children's Data (아동 정보를 수신하는 제3자 서비스)
Zoom Video Communications: Display name, video/audio feed, IP address — to host live class sessions. Privacy Policy
Stripe: No direct child data (payment by Parent) — for payment processing. Privacy Policy

Meta Pixel: Suppressed on student-facing pages

6. Advertising and Tracking (광고 및 추적)
SOAR does not serve behavioral or targeted advertising to children. Google Analytics and Meta Pixel are programmatically disabled on all student-facing pages. We do not allow any third-party advertising network to collect information from children using our services. We do not use children's personal information to build advertising profiles.
7. Parental Rights (보호자 권리)

(a) Right to Review: Review child's information via the SOAR dashboard or by contacting privacy@soarkidz.com
