Meet Your Teacher
Ryan
Hello! My name is Ryan Barrett, and I bring over 16 years of experience teaching English to middle and high school students across various educational settings in the United States. I’ve taught English Language Arts (ELA), literature, and test preparation courses, including SAT, AP English Language & Composition, and state-aligned ELA curriculum. Throughout my career, I’ve helped students boost their reading comprehension, analytical writing, and test-taking strategies—equipping them with the tools they need to succeed in both classroom assessments and standardized exams. Whether it's guiding students through classic literature or preparing them for rigorous academic challenges, I focus on building confidence and mastery through personalized instruction. I believe reading is essential not just for language development but for cultivating critical thinking and independent thought. A powerful novel I often recommend is Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, which encourages students to reflect on the value of books and the freedom to access them. Whether in a classroom or tutoring session, my goal is to help students discover reading as a lifelong tool for learning and self-discovery!
