Meet Your Teacher
Mairead
Hello Scholars, my name is Ms. Mairead (pronounced like “parade” with an ‘M’), it's a pleasure to be your teacher this year. For almost 20 years, I’ve enjoyed teaching English at the elementary, middle and high school levels, including supporting students learning the English language and those writing their college applications. My teaching philosophy is presenting learning as a developmental process. That means we can practice strategies in steps so you build the experience and confidence tackling increasingly complex and challenging material without feeling overwhelmed. One book I highly recommend is Animal Farm by George Orwell. This is a fascinating satirical allegory that can help us analyze power dynamics in societies and how they may apply in the real-world.
