Meet Your Teacher
Besara
I specialize in helping middle and high school students build a strong foundational understanding of mathematics within a supportive and encouraging learning environment. My teaching approach emphasizes clarity, structure, and confidence-building—breaking down complex high school math problems into simple, repeatable steps that students can master independently. I often invite students to “teach back” what they’ve learned, a powerful technique that deepens comprehension and reinforces long-term retention of key mathematical concepts. I am an expert in the full middle and high school mathematics sequence, from basic arithmetic through AP Calculus, and have extensive experience in standardized test preparation, including the SAT, ACT, HSPT, Math Kangaroo, and AMC competitions. My teaching experience spans a wide range of student populations and instructional settings, from 1:1 tutoring to large classroom environments, allowing me to adapt effectively to each learner’s unique needs. Students working with me gain not only problem-solving proficiency but also a deeper understanding of the mathematical logic behind each solution. They receive individualized feedback and customized practice materials aligned with their academic goals, as well as real-world connections that make mathematics both meaningful and relevant. I hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education and have over 15 years of experience specializing in secondary mathematics instruction. My professional background includes curriculum design, standardized test preparation, and working with diverse learners, including students with ADHD and dyscalculia. I have taught classes of more than 100 students, developed comprehensive math curricula for secondary education, and hold multiple teaching certifications, including Russian School of Mathematics certification.
